This self-paced, online course is where we begin our journey as extraordinary educators.

Here we will lay the foundations for integrating trauma and resilience, social emotional learning, restorative practice, teaching to diverse learners, and creating a safe and effective learning environment into your classroom - what you do and how you do it everyday. We will explore things like brain research, cultural acuity, teaching/learning pedagogy, and what it takes to be an effective teacher.

This course is the fundemental, academic, information about all these things. It is a requirement for The Teach Like Their Lives Depend On It Certification Program (face-to-face every summer) where we provide the next step, by practicing, adapting, and learning to work with the tools, strategies, and skills that these foundations require to implement.

    2. We will better understand the importance and relevance to learning involved in creating a safe learning environment while we discover tools and strategies to create and nurture our classrooms as those safe places.
    3. We will better understand our role as facilitators of willingness and engagement and the tools and strategies by which to engage, assess engagement, and re-engage our students.
    4. We will explore behavior and discover new ways to support students in changing unhealthy behaviors.
    5. We will come to understand the important skills needed as an educator to ensure cultural relevance, responsiveness, and acuity. We will additionally be able to self-identify our areas of weakness and related resources to continue this important journey.
